Discovery of a new type of Corona virus in Britain

The British newspaper, The Independent, revealed the discovery of a new type of Corona virus in British bats linked to “SARS-Covid-2”, the infection that causes “Covid-19”.

And the newspaper added, "University researcher Evana Murphy from the University of East Anglia collected fecal material from dozens of horseshoe bats, and found a new coronavirus genome sequence in one of 53 samples."

Murphy said she "hopes the discovery will not lead people to persecution of bats," and continued: "Like all wild animals, if left alone, they pose no threat."

The virus identified by Public Health England experts was named RhGB01.

Experts said it is "unlikely to threaten humans unless it mutates, and there is no evidence that it has moved so far."

For her part, Diana Bell of the University of East Anglia said, "The discovered species have likely carried RhGB01 for thousands of years, and it was only discovered now after conducting the new research," calling for "more studies to be conducted on different types of bats and other species."

"Horseshoe bats are found throughout Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. Similar viruses have been found in other species of horseshoe bats in China, Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe," she added.
