A watercolor painting by Kiyoshi Yamashita, a painter who painted the opening ceremony of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, was donated to the capital.

The donation was a watercolor painting by Kiyoshi Yamashita, who is known as a wandering genius painter, and was handed to Governor Koike by the chairman of the company in Taito Ward, which he owns.

The title of the picture is "Japan, Firmly", and it depicts the Japanese athletes marching at the opening ceremony of the last Tokyo Olympics and the crowd.

The donated company, Tadashi Takaoka, made ribbons for medals, etc., and made ribbons for medals at the previous tournament.

The painting was purchased from an art dealer about 30 years ago and was donated at the start of this tournament.

Mr. Takaoka said, "I think it's better to have everyone see it than to display it in my house. The Olympics are about to begin, but I'm looking forward to the athletes' fierce battle."

The watercolor paintings will be open to the public on the 2nd floor of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building No. 1 from the 23rd when the Olympic Games start to the 5th September when the Paralympics end.
