The mayor (PS) of La Rochelle Jean-François Fountaine asks the prefect of Charente-Maritime this Monday to make the wearing of a mask mandatory outdoors (except on the beaches), in front of the unfavorable epidemic context.

The prefectural decree should enter into force very soon.

“Charente-Maritime is one of the departments most affected by a significant increase in the incidence rate, which went from 9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants on July 9, to 109 cases per 100,000 inhabitants on July 15 (against 63 cases for 100,000 inhabitants for the national incidence rate) ”, writes the elected official in a press release published on the city's Facebook page.

The coastal town is very busy during the holidays and the mayor calls for great vigilance and respect for preventive actions (mask, hand washing, distancing).
