The seven-day incidence has jumped to a double-digit value in Germany.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the value on Sunday morning as 10 (previous day: 9.4 a week ago 6.2).

Within one day, the health authorities in Germany reported 1292 new corona infections to the RKI.

This is evident from the numbers from Sunday morning, which reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 4:14 a.m.

For comparison: a week ago the value was 745 infections.

Half of the 16 federal states exceeded a seven-day incidence of 10. Berlin had 15.8, Bremen 13.7, and Hesse 13.2.

The value is lowest in Saxony-Anhalt at 3.1, but there, too, the incidence is slowly increasing again.

All territorial states in eastern Germany are significantly less affected by new infections than the west.

The incidence has so far been the basis for many corona restrictions in the pandemic, for example as part of the federal emergency brake that expired at the end of June.

In the future, other values such as hospital admissions are to be taken more into account.

According to the new information, three deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours.

A week ago there were six dead.

The RKI has counted 3,744,681 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not detected.

The RKI stated the number of those who had recovered at 3,639,300.

The number of people who died with or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 91,362.

Despite the increase in the corona incidence, Federal Minister of Economics Peter Altmaier (CDU) is ruling out another corona lockdown in Germany. "We must and will prevent a new lockdown," he told the newspaper Bild am Sonntag. According to him, a new lockdown would be "devastating for many shops and restaurants that have been closed for months". The Minister of Economic Affairs currently sees no need for further measures against the corona virus: "As long as there is no threat of overloading the health system, there is no reason for new measures or even a lockdown."

Vaccinated or younger people usually have no symptoms at all if they were infected.

The intensive care bed capacity in Germany is also far from its utilization limit.

However, Altmaier thinks the vaccination campaign is too slow.

"We have to accelerate the vaccination campaign again strongly," he demanded.

"Wherever people come together in public, whether in the beer garden or in the pedestrian zone, vaccinations should be offered." The CDU politician also advocated that "mobile vaccination teams address people in cafés and restaurants and vaccinate them directly on site".

According to the RKI, 45.9 percent of the population in Germany were fully vaccinated against the virus by Friday.

At least one vaccine dose was given to 59.7 percent.
