The Sharjah Book Authority hosted Dr. Abdullah Al Darmaki, member of the Advisory Council in the Emirate of Sharjah, author of the book “My Journey to the Summit”, and Dr. Muhammad Abdul Karim Murad, Head of the Strategic Planning Department at Umm Al Quwain Police, in a dialogue session held at the Khor Fakkan Library under the title “Book Forum”. It addressed the cultural and creative experience of the two guests.

During the session, which was moderated by Engineer Abdul Raouf Hassan Amira, the two guests touched on the experience of writing and reading, and the importance of individuals setting strategic goals that give value to their lives and contribute to the development of their societies. Its value is gained through the greatness of its goals and its elevation towards identification with the human endeavor to build the earth and make people happy.

Al Darmaki said: "Achieving these goals requires sincerity of intention, love of society and finding a motive for work, in addition to adopting the positive word and not favoring negative criticism that causes despair among others, and this is what we are witnessing from the leadership of the UAE at the level of motivation for positive citizenship."

Al Darmaki pointed out that people suffer in this age of anxiety and that those who have a strong determination can revitalize their hobbies and turn them into an inspiring lifestyle. He considered that the importance of reading lies in pushing people to embrace life and motivating them to cling to ambition and overcome obstacles.

Overcoming distraction

For his part, Dr. Muhammad Abdul Karim Murad reviewed his personal experience in setting early strategic goals for educational attainment, praising the leadership provided by the state and its leadership at the level of strategic planning and the development of interim plans that inspire individuals.

On the content of his book, “The 5 Most Powerful Ways to Get Rid of Distraction,” he explained that it stems from the awareness that a person who does not set goals for himself is a victim of distraction, pointing out that this problem applies to 97% of individuals.

In order to overcome the scourge of dispersion, the lecturer advised not to excessively deal with social media, because, according to his opinion, it perpetuates a culture of forgetfulness and unfamiliarity with the events that deserve to be surrounded by memory, given the volume of information provided by these means and the absence of proper documentation and scrutiny of them, pointing out that individuals were They have a more accurate memory in observing and narrating events, because their focus was greater than the new generations who suffer from dispersion and are exposed to it in daily life.

Dr. Muhammad Abdul-Karim explained that building community awareness is taking place gradually, and that there are no magic solutions that can be presented by a single book or a single symposium.

On the subject of reading, he pointed out that those who criticize the increasing number of young authors and writers, their criticism is misplaced, because our problem is not in the aspect of authorship, but in reading and the need to encourage its instillation in the family and society.
