The Catalan Minister of Health Josep Maria Argimon has acknowledged that

celebrating the Vida, Cruïlla and Canet music festivals was "a mistake" and that he sent "contradictory messages" to the public

.

Despite the fact that massive screenings were carried out in the three appointments, its celebration fully coincided with

an explosion of infections in Catalonia without precedent in Europe

that continues to affect the youngest segment of the population.

In an interview in Catalunya Ràdio, Argimon has asked for "caution" and has admitted that "he would not repeat" the decision to authorize the celebration of the festivals, although he has also explained that the preliminary data of the studies that have been carried out during the events indicate that

these have not had a great impact

on infections.

After the disaster of Vida, the festival where the screening system failed on the first day, Cruïlla carried out a fast and exemplary screening process.

Now it remains to be seen if the antigen tests worked

. The number of positives detected in the three festivals has been suspiciously varied: the Canet Rock detected 152 positives in coronavirus among the 22,330 antigen tests while the Cruïlla detected 289 positives over three days in which 50,000 people passed through the Forum . The Vida Festival detected 51 positives after performing 27,200 antigen tests.

Although wearing the mask at festivals was mandatory, many images testify that there was relaxation in a large part of the public and that

the false sense of security after passing the test

made many attendees not entirely cautious.

Both the Vida, the Canet Rock and the Cruïlla were held with the authorization of the Procicat and the Catalan Health Department as part of an experiment that has the scientific backing of the Germans Trias Hospital.

The data of the attendees will be compared with Health to find out if the festivals have been a source of contagion

or if, on the contrary, mass screenings are a sure way to enjoy live music outdoors again. Argimon has advanced that the results will be known next Wednesday. Most festivals such as Sónar, Primavera Sound or Mad Cool have postponed their editions to the summer of 2022.

The TSJC has authorized the curfew in Catalonia today.

It will be from 1 to 6 in the morning in 161 municipalities.

The measure is a decision that comes after banning nightlife and meetings of more than ten people to stop the wave of infections.

Catalonia has doubled the number of hospitalized in one week.

According to the Health Department, today there are

1,349 people hospitalized for Covid-19

in Catalonia

, of which 259 are seriously ill in ucis, with an average age of 50 years

.

The speed of spread of the virus has slowed for the ninth day in a row and today is 1.31

According to the criteria of The Trust Project
