The wait is long for the last candidates.

While the main phase of Parcoursup ends at midnight on Friday, more than 91,178 young people out of a total of 841,518 had still not received an assignment in higher education for the start of the school year on Thursday evening.

Among them, 45,683 high school students, 33,770 candidates seeking reorientation and 11,725 educated abroad.

In a joint statement, the Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of National Education, however, welcomed the fact that “to date, 568,000 high school graduates have received at least one admission proposal, or 89.5% of between them.

This rate is more than 1.3 points higher than last year ”.

More proposals to high school students

"The Parcoursup platform was faster, made more proposals to high school students and candidates since last year only 8 out of 10 high school students had received at least one admission proposal," said Jérôme Teillard, Parcoursup project manager for the Ministry of Higher Education.

According to the government, these better results "are also true for students in reorientation, despite the greater number of registrants this year on Parcoursup (77% or 1.3 additional points compared to 2020)".

"Our priority at the moment is that those who have proposals can go and register and that, for those who have not had any proposals, we can trigger a personalized device to find a solution for them by the start of the school year", continued Jérôme Teillard.

"It's a lot and it's always too much"

For Yann Carcel, vice-president of the student union Fage "more than 91,000 candidates waiting for places is a lot and it is always too much".

According to him, "the same great concern is always present, that of not having the satisfaction rate of the candidates".

The same goes for Mélanie Luce, president of UNEF, a student union opposed to Parcoursup.

“We always have the same problem: how many young people cannot access the field of their choice?

She says.

Anne Roger, co-secretary general of the Snesup union (teachers of higher education) raises the agitations which are very strongly felt in the sectors in tension.

"Sectors like Staps, in Rennes or Grenoble, have sounded the alarm and this is only the beginning of a long list", she fears.

Last week, Staps teachers at its universities suspended their administrative duties to denounce the understaffing.

Look at the vacant places of the so-called "complementary" phase

Others welcome the BTS places which have been allocated more to pro bac students this year.

"There are less professional baccalaureate on the floor, it was an issue and it is a good thing", noted Françoise Lambert, general secretary at Sgen-CFDT, union in favor of the reform.

"This is only the beginning, but it is very important to give those who need it most places in the most supervised sectors," she added.

For all those who will remain unanswered from Friday evening, it is advisable to look at the vacant places of the so-called "complementary" phase, open since June 16.

A possibility that will be offered to them until September 16.

Candidates can also contact the Commission for Access to Higher Education (CAES) of their rectorate, which will try to offer them a suitable solution.
