Of the "Japan Heritage" certified by the Agency for Cultural Affairs to utilize the culture and traditions of various parts of Japan for the promotion of tourism in the region, it is decided whether to cancel the certification because the plan for regional revitalization is insufficient in four regions. A reexamination will be carried out.

"Japan Heritage" is a collection of cultural properties scattered around each region according to regional connections and historical characteristics, and the Agency for Cultural Affairs has certified it for the region since 2015 in order to utilize it for tourism promotion. By June, there were 104 cases.

From this year, a certification revocation system has been introduced, and if the number of customers and dissemination and enlightenment do not reach the goals set by themselves and the efforts are insufficient, the certification will be revoked.

There were no areas that were canceled in this examination, but four cases, Gifu City and Misasa Town, Tottori Prefecture, Tsuwano Town, Shimane Prefecture, and some cities and towns in Fukuoka Prefecture and Saga Prefecture, will be dealt with over the next three years. Due to insufficient plans for regional revitalization, it was subject to reexamination to decide whether to revoke the accreditation.

The examination results will be announced after autumn.

On the other hand, three new candidates were selected: Otaru City, Hokkaido, Futtsu City, Chiba Prefecture, Kyonan Town, and Kyoto City.

Based on the plans developed by each region, evaluation will be conducted after 3 years to decide whether to certify.
