In response to the former U.S. Secretary of State Pompeo’s announcement on October 20, 2020, the revocation of the previous decision to identify the "Eastern Iraqi Movement" as a terrorist organization, at the press conference of the Ministry of Public Security held on July 14, the deputy counter-terrorism office of the National Anti-Terrorism Office In response, Wu Xin, the director and deputy director of the Counter-Terrorism Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, believed that this US decision was a manifestation of the “politicization” and “instrumentation” of counter-terrorism and the implementation of a “double standard” on counter-terrorism issues.

Wu Xin introduced that the "East Islamic Movement" is a terrorist organization listed by the UN Security Council. Its full name is the "East Turkistan Islamic Movement", also known as the "East Turkistan Islamic Party", and also known as the "Turkistan Islamic Party". One of the most harmful terrorist organizations among the "East Turkistan" terrorist forces.

In 2002, the 1267 Committee of the United Nations Security Council sanctioned its listing.

In 2003, my country identified and announced it as a terrorist organization.

According to reports, since its establishment, the "Eastern Iraq Movement" has conducted the "4·30" violent terrorist attack on Urumqi Railway Station, the "7.31" violent terrorist attack on Kashgar, and the Hetian Moyu case in Xinjiang. Hundreds of violent and terrorist incidents including the "12.14" violent and terrorist homicide have caused heavy casualties and property losses.

Wu Xin said that when the United Nations Security Council listed sanctions against the "Eastern Iraq Movement" in 2002, the United States was listed as a co-sponsor.

While the terrorist activities of the "Eastern Iranian Movement" are still rampant, relevant US politicians withdrew the identification of the "Eastern Iraqi Movement" terrorist organization. This is another manifestation of the "politicization" and "instrumentalization" of anti-terrorism by the United States.

We firmly oppose the implementation of "double standards" on counter-terrorism issues, and oppose the use of ethnicity, religion, human rights and other excuses to condone and support terrorist activities.

Together with the international community, we will, as always, resolutely crack down on terrorist forces such as the "Eastern Iranian Movement" and do our best to maintain peace and tranquility in the country and the international region.
