Meghan Markle is producing an animated series for Netflix

Archwell Productions, the production company owned by the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, said it has produced a family animated series for Netflix and that she will also be its executive producer.

The company, created by Meghan and her husband Prince Harry, said in a statement that the series focuses on the adventures of a 12-year-old girl who draws inspiration from a diverse group of influential women in history.

The series, called "Pearl", is the first series announced by Netflix, Meghan and Harry.

They sealed the deal last year after she gave up her royal duties and moved to California.

"Our heroine, Pearl, like many girls of her age, is on a journey of self-discovery as she seeks to overcome the challenges of everyday life," Megan said in a statement.

"I am thrilled that Archwell Productions has partnered with the powerful Netflix platform and that these two amazing producers will jointly produce this new animated series that celebrates exceptional women throughout history."

No date has yet been set for the show's presentation.
