Press Press associations call for the "immediate" release of journalist Camila Acosta, detained in Cuba
The ABC correspondent in Cuba, Camila Acosta, who was arrested last Monday after reporting on the protests against the Government of
Miguel Díaz-Canel,
has been transferred to the '100 y Aldabó' prison, in Havana, as reported by the medium for which he works.
The journalist's father,
Orlando Acosta,
has indicated that he has not been able to see his daughter, who was at the Infanta y Manglar police station since Monday, and that this Wednesday she has been transferred to this prison.
"They do not let me see her, nor do they allow her to communicate.
They have not allowed her a call or anything.
And above all we know that she is no longer where she was. They told me that they transferred her to the prison of 100 and Aldabó, a police investigation unit "Acosta's father told
ABC
.
Acosta was arrested when she was leaving her home in Havana to accompany her father for a PCR, although hours before the arrest took place, the journalist
had been covering the protests
that are taking place in the Cuban capital against the Government Cuban.
The correspondent had
blocked access to the Internet and the messaging application 'WhatsApp'
since the last hour of Sunday, a reason that "justified", according to
ABC
, that she did not respond to messages and calls.
Likewise, the charges against Acosta have been modified and she will now go from being prosecuted for crimes against State security, as she was informed on the day of her arrest, to being tried for
"contempt and public disorder."
