This year's rainy season is expected to end next week. After the rainy season is over, the full-fledged sweltering heat will begin, but this year, hot air is piled up in the sky over our country, so there is a forecast that a heat wave will continue for a while.

This is reporter Jung Gu-hee.

<Reporter> On the

afternoon of the 13th, mercury in Iksan, Jeollabuk-do and Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk exceeded 35 degrees, and Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi exceeded 34 degrees.

The North Pacific high pressure that creates the rainy season front is currently receding toward Japan, but as it gradually moves north, it is expected to rain in the south and Chungcheong on Sunday and across the country on Monday.

However, there is a possibility that this rain will be the end of the rainy season.

This is because the rainy season front may be pushed to the north by high pressure and then disappear.

If the tectonic rainy season ends quickly, next week will continue to be hot with over 33 degrees Celsius and tropical nights across the country.

This is because the high pressure of the North Pacific and the hot high pressure developed in Tibet cover Korea at the same time, which is driving the sweltering heat, and a so-called heat dome phenomenon is expected, which is trapped in two high pressures.

It is similar to 2018, when the heat wave continued for a month and was recorded as the hottest year, but the Korea Meteorological Administration is in the position to wait a little longer to see if the heat wave will last as long as then.
