China News Service, Macau, July 13 (Reporter Long Tuyou) On July 13, the Electoral Management Committee of the Seventh Legislative Council of the Macao Special Administrative Region (hereinafter referred to as the EAC) made a decision on the correction or replacement of the candidate list. Five direct elections A total of 20 people in the group were confirmed as not eligible, and related notices were posted in the underground lobby of the Public Administration Building for announcement.

According to the notice, compared to the general list of candidates announced on July 7, the list of candidates for direct elections has been reduced from 19 groups to 14 groups, and the total number of candidates has been reduced from 159 to 128.

The reduction of the five candidate lists is due to the fact that they do not replace or replace candidates who are not eligible for selection, and that some candidates have waived their participation in the election. There are 4 candidates in the list whose number of eligible candidates has not reached the statutory lower limit.

The original 21 people were not eligible to be elected because it proved that they did not support the Basic Law of the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China or were not loyal to the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China. The number was changed to 20 because one of them proposed a replacement.

There are no changes to the indirect elections, and a total of 12 candidates in 5 candidate lists are maintained.

According to the election law and the election schedule, the trustee of the candidate list can raise an objection to the decision of the EAC no later than July 16.

If there is any objection, the EAC will make a decision in accordance with the provisions of the electoral law.
