Vaccination of caregivers is now mandatory, as announced by Emmanuel Macron on Monday evening.

To check if this measure was approved by the first concerned, Europe 1 went to the Saint-Antoine hospital in Paris, where some professionals rub shoulders with people who are more than skeptical.

REPORTAGE

Among Emmanuel Macron's important announcements, Monday evening, is the compulsory vaccination of caregivers and non-carers in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, as well as for professionals and volunteers with the elderly, including at home.

Controls will take place from September 15, with the specter of sanctions in the event of incomplete vaccination.

At the Saint-Antoine hospital in Paris, this measure is variously appreciated.

Between the hospital buildings, the first impression is that the announcement does not surprise anyone.

Perhaps even less those who are vaccinated, like Marilyse, internal to the laboratory.

"I completely agree with that. In a hospital, the virus circulates, so it is important to be vaccinated," she insists.

Anti-vaccine impossible to reason?

The more one discusses with the staff, the more one realizes how divisive the subject of vaccination has become in the corridors. Almost a taboo. "There are colleagues who refuse, so there are some for health reasons and others because they watch too much conspiracy videos", assures Marie, nurse and vaccinated. "I have that in my department, so it's a bit complicated to have healthcare professionals who still believe in that sort of thing, in 5G, etc.

This professional believes that this behavior is "a little aberrant", with the feeling that no pro-vaccine argument will convince them.

"I prefer not to talk about it because it annoys me. Anyway, we've already tried to reason with them with the doctors, etc. And it doesn't work. So that's why I'm more for (the obligation) ", confides Marie.

Summer challenge: find a niche

Many professionals at Saint-Antoine Hospital are vaccinated, but not all.

Like this caregiver met by Europe 1, blue charlotte on her head, who says she cannot make an appointment.

"Not even a dose, nothing at all. But I protect myself, I have my mask. It's not normal… I need to be vaccinated."

However, it will be necessary to find one or two slots before September 15, which leaves another eight weeks for professionals not to risk a suspension of their activity.
