China News Service, Macau, July 12th. "Macao Special Administrative Region Bulletin" published on the 12th Law No. 9/2021 "Consumer Rights Protection Law", which will take effect on January 1 next year.

  The Consumer Rights Protection Law aims to protect the rights of consumers, maintain the fairness and equality of the legal relationship established between operators and consumers, improve the transparency of business conduct, protect the legitimate interests of consumers, and combat impropriety Business behavior.

  The law defines consumers and business operators, and confirms that consumers receive guidance and obtain information, their health and safety are protected, they obtain quality goods and services, their economic interests are protected, they receive compensation for damages, and they participate in legal matters related to their own rights and interests. To formulate, obtain legal protection and facilitate access to the seven rights of justice.

  The "Consumer Rights Protection Law" applies to the legal relationship established between operators and consumers in the Macao Special Administrative Region due to the provision of goods or services. The law does not apply to lucky gambling, interactive gambling, mutual gambling or gambling activities provided to the public; Medical services; educational services; legal services; accounting or auditing services; financial services involving securities or financial services for goods and services whose prices are set in response to fluctuations in the financial market.

  The Consumer Council of Macau is responsible for implementing and promoting the "Consumer Rights Protection Law", instituting procedures and imposing administrative penalties on violations of the law, as well as receiving and processing complaints from consumers, and assisting consumers in resolving consumer disputes.
