The first holidaymakers hardly arrive at their destination, when they already hear about curfews, the return of the mask or other restrictive measures in the face of the coronavirus.

The President of the Republic will speak Monday evening at 8 p.m. during a televised address.

Travelers do not yet know whether they will be able to fully enjoy their stay.

Will we be able to enjoy the summer vacation?

Emmanuel Macron will speak Monday evening at 8 p.m. on television after a new Defense counsel.

This new speech could amply thwart the plans of some French people because of possible restrictive measures, to deal with the Delta variant, which worries the first holidaymakers on departure or already arrived at their destination.

An oppressive and exhausting situation

When the TGV from Paris stopped at La Baule station on Friday afternoon, it spilled a tide of wheeled suitcases.

A smile lights up Patricia's face: "It's joy! We're just waiting for the sun!", She says.

But all these vacationers keep, in the back of their mind, the resumption of the coronavirus epidemic under the effect of the Delta variant.

Without spoiling their stays.

"It's quite oppressive. Now, we are not going to rush to do absolutely everything during the week because there may be a Delta coming," says Inès.

Before adding calmly: "It's been a year and a half since it is like that. We live from day to day".

"We've been waiting for this vacation for a year and a half"

On the platform of a Parisian station, the threat also weighs on travelers.

"I have the impression that we are all a little jaded and that we are going over the water. [...] I have vacation again at the end of August, I am not sure I can take, "says a vacationer.

For another traveler, this "leaden cap" is seriously starting to wear out.

"We've been waiting for this vacation for a year and a half," he explains.

"For now, we are staying in France and Brittany. I'm afraid for what will happen afterwards because we are going to Portugal and it sucks a little more," he continues.

For other vacationers, after three confinements and many restrictive measures, we must leave… whatever the cost!

"I don't want to know what he's saying, I just want to take advantage of my family vacation," says a woman about Emmanuel Macron's speech on Monday evening.

This is also what Carla and Jocelyne thinks, two Lebanese who came to enjoy a week of treatment on the Atlantic coast.

"We do not need to worry too much. Coming from abroad, we feel safe here and it is good to say it to the French, who are better than elsewhere," admit the two women.

In the campsites, do everything outdoors to respect barrier gestures

For their part, professionals in the sector are trying to reassure.

Especially in campsites which have a major advantage: almost everything is done outdoors.

"The density of people is per hectare, not per square meter", explains Nicolas Charrier, the owner of the Rochelais campsite in Saint-Brévin-les-Pins, in Loire-Atlantique.

"We have health protocols. We have already put them in place since last year, so we know them well," he says.

Then he details: "Wearing a mask is compulsory in closed places. We have virucidal products and also ventilation and aeration protocols for housing".

This summer, the owner of this campsite is expecting thousands of travelers simultaneously.
