The Medicine Man is a five-part documentary, written and narrated by journalist and author Lars Berge and produced by Adam Svanell and Hugo Lavett.

It starts with a man in feather attire and moccasins coming to Örebro.

He claims to be the last survivor of the Mi'kmaq tribe in North America and that he has the ability to heal.

His goal is to save the planet from destruction and create its ideal society, Gaialand.

- The medicine man had grand plans.

With forgotten cultivation methods where you download energy from the cosmos as super fertilizer, world hunger would be eradicated.

The sect would establish a new civilization in the forest and live completely disconnected, without electricity and money, says Lars Berge.

Several cult members die

The medicine man brings with him a group of people from around Europe.

Together they build a camp village in Ångermanland.

The rumor spreads and several Swedes with an interest in veganism and the new age join the movement.

But a lot goes wrong: a child dies under unclear circumstances, a person starves to death and one is stabbed to death.

- He has a magnetic personality.

There is something almost supernatural demonic about him, says Lars Berge.
