On the night of the 5th on the JR Ofunato Line in Ichinoseki City, Iwate Prefecture, there was an accident in which a train collided with a fallen tree and derailed.

No one was injured, but the Japan Transport Safety Board has decided to send an investigator to the scene to investigate the cause in detail.

Around 9:35 pm on the 5th, between Mataki Station and Rikuchu-Kadozaki Station on the JR Ofunato Line running in Ichinoseki City, a regular down train was lying down on the track, about 25 meters long and 50 centimeters thick. I collided with a tree and derailed.



According to JR East, the train was a one-car train, and there were six passengers and crew on board, but none of them were injured.



The train was in a state where the wheels on the front side were derailed and could not move, and JR decided to suspend operation on the up and down lines of the Ofunato line all day on the 6th, saying that it would take time to recover.

There is no prospect of resumption.



Meanwhile, on the 6th, the Japan Transport Safety Board dispatched two railway accident investigators to the site to investigate the cause of the accident in detail.



According to the committee, the investigators will check the condition of the trains on site and interview the train crew and other related parties.



The site is a place surrounded by forests and agricultural land, about 5 km away from JR Ichinoseki Station.
