A virtual exhibition in the "Art Gallery" in "New York Abu Dhabi"

The Art Gallery of New York University Abu Dhabi invites art lovers to take advantage of the last opportunity to attend its first virtual exhibition "Not From, In, On, Or To Line", which concludes next Saturday.

Hosted by a digital platform specifically designed to ensure the best viewing experience on mobile devices, the exhibition presents a new vision on contemporary digital and electronic arts that have gained special importance during the “Covid-19” crisis.

Not From, In, On, Or To Line is curated by Maya Allison, Chief Curator and Executive Director of the Art Gallery of NYUAD, and artist Heather Dewey-Hagburg, NYUAD faculty member.

The exhibition includes four new commissioned works, in addition to 14 existing works, through which artists highlight the possibilities offered by virtual reality, and the obstacles it imposes at the same time, attracting so far visitors from more than 140 countries from all over the world.

The Art Gallery continues its summer program with a series of video interviews with a group of world-renowned artists, academics and field experts, such as Douglas Rochkopf, Ruth Catlow, Bruce Sterling, Jasmina Tichanowicz, Mindy, Keith Obadecki, Ricardo Dominguez, and Geert Lovink. The Internet in its infancy, and the developments that occurred thereafter.

This 12-part series, "Oral History of the Internet," hosts artist Heather Dewey-Hagburg, Visiting Assistant Professor of Interactive Media at New York University Abu Dhabi, and Jörg Blumtrett, Associate Professor of Interactive Media at NYUAD.

These pre-recorded interviews are available on a weekly basis until September 1, via an electronic link.

The Art Gallery at New York University Abu Dhabi also presents a special publication, which reviews the successes of the gallery, its publications, and its activities during the six years since its establishment, along with a set of texts and articles on the exhibitions and arts sector at the university, and the UAE in general.

The book highlights Al Riwaq's contributions to the rich artistic and cultural scene of the UAE.

The book presents texts and photos from the gallery's most famous exhibitions, articles signed by curators, interviews with artists and members of the art community, in addition to excerpts from books published in Art Gallery so far.
