Video..Ali Gomaa: It is not permissible to ask the drinker to leave the prayer

Dr. Ali Gomaa, the former Mufti of the Republic and head of the Religious Affairs and Endowments Committee in the Senate, said that there is no objection to the alcoholic leaving prayer, because it is an obligation and one of the pillars of Islam that cannot be abandoned.

And Juma’a added during his speech on the “CBC” channel: “It is not permissible to ask the drinker of alcohol to leave prayer, but we are supposed to ask him to leave alcohol and continue praying,” stressing that Islam commanded the performance of prayer and considered leaving it a major sin, and drinking alcohol is a sin. God will punish the perpetrator, he is the mother of evil.

Concerning the statement that it is not permissible for a wine-drinker to approach prayer for 40 days, Ali Gomaa said: “It is not an order of goodness, for perhaps his prayer will end it one day.” We encourage him to pray and forbid him to drink alcohol and not the other way around.”
