A family celebration in a restaurant in Fürth, Bavaria, with around 50 people in attendance, escalated to such an extent that the police had to go on a large-scale operation.

According to the officials, an argument had developed at the restaurant on Saturday evening, in which, among other things, a blank gun was used.

Almost 40 police officers were on duty to calm the highly aggressive situation and break up the celebration.

When the police arrived, those present had already divided into several groups, and the atmosphere was sometimes extremely tense.

Pepper spray was used against a family member who attacked officers on a massive scale.

He was then taken to a hospital, the police reported on Sunday.

A 59-year-old was identified as the alleged author of the shots, and the man is being investigated accordingly.

The ceremony itself was ended by the officials due to the heated atmosphere and they temporarily closed the entire restaurant.

The cause of the dispute was initially unclear.
