The pressure continues to fall on hospitals in France, which still receive fewer patients with coronavirus, according to figures released on Saturday.

Hospitals had 7,912 Covid-19 patients (against 8,044 Friday and 9,024 the previous Saturday), including 1,102 in critical care (1,123 the day before and 1,349 seven days ago), indicates Public Health France.

Over the last 24 hours, 79 patients (against 118 the day before) entered the hospital and 17 patients (as on Friday) were admitted to critical care, reserved for the most seriously ill patients.

Seventeen people have died from Covid-19, bringing the total number of deaths from Covid-19 to 111,181 since the start of the epidemic in early 2020, including 84,708 in hospitals.

The positivity rate remains low

On the side of contaminations, 3,006 new cases (2,683 Friday) have been detected over the last 24 hours.

The positivity rate, which represents the number of positive tests compared to all tests performed, remains low at 0.8% over the last seven days.

To avoid renewed hospital pressure within a few weeks, fueled by the spread of the highly contagious Delta variant, the health authorities are counting, among other things, on vaccination.

The Minister of Health Olivier Véran thus announced Friday a relaxation of the framework of the vaccination.

From Monday, candidates for vaccination will be able to make an appointment for two injections in two different places, including on vacation spots.
