The Shamma Muhammad Council for Thought and Knowledge discussed, during a dialogue session, the issue of “family privacy in light of the dominance of the image.”

Sheikha Dr. Shamma bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan started the dialogue by talking about the origin of images and their history since the inception of man on earth, the beginning of awareness, the formation of societies thousands of years ago, recording the vocabulary of his life on the walls of caves, engraving on stones, walls of temples, palaces and homes, then drawing paintings. Technical, until the most important turning point was with the invention of the photographic camera at the beginning of the 19th century, up to the second most important turn, which is the integration of the camera with the mobile phone in 2000.

Sheikha Shamma reviewed modern lifestyles, the man's obsession with the image, the emergence of social networks, and the transformation of images and videos into key elements in the vocabulary of life, and a source of knowledge.

The dialogue revolved around how to save pictures in the past, and how we preserve pictures today, while the attendees unanimously agreed that they keep their pictures in smart devices.

Sheikha Shamma confirmed that these means can be decoded anywhere, their privacy is breached and their content is hijacked, the possibility of the image threatening the security of the family and society, the danger of its negative use, the fascination of young people with the famous social media, their imitation and their desire for fame, the review of pictures of their private lives, and the exposure of details of their privacy By exposing the family’s privacy, such as disagreements that threaten the cohesion of the family and its exposure to crimes of theft, extortion and threats using pictures, access to the address of the house and news and secrets of its residents, or the commission of negative behaviors contrary to the values ​​of society.

The session included discussions about the questions asked and in-depth answers, as well as evidence from real experiences that enriched the cultural dialogue.
