The Abu Dhabi Cultural and Heritage Festivals and Programs Committee is preparing to launch the competitions of the seventeenth session of the Liwa Date Festival in Liwa City, Al Dhafra Region, on Thursday, 15th of this month, and will last for 10 days, with a total prize pool of more than eight million dirhams, as the activities of the current session are limited to prizes. Issa Saif Al Mazrouei, Vice-Chairman of the Cultural and Heritage Programs and Festivals Management Committee in Abu Dhabi, said that this year, the Liwa Date Festival will be limited to date fairs, fruit bids and competitions accompanying the festival. The Vice Chairman of the Cultural and Heritage Festivals and Programs Committee stressed the Organizing Committee’s keenness to apply all preventive measures and precautionary measures to the participants and the supervisory committees in coordination with the competent and concerned authorities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, according to a joint plan that will be announced in detail, noting that entry to the festival will be limited to those who have received a vaccination. “Covid-19” with highlighting a negative result through the application of Al-Hosn for a period not exceeding 48 hours, in addition to conducting temperature checks and sterilizing the reception center and the festival site on a daily basis, while wearing face masks and gloves, according to the instructions of the competent authorities, and adhering to physical distance between people and various committees. With the provision of sanitary materials and various sterilization materials, and the creation of special paths for the delivery of wet and fruit participants according to a mechanism that ensures the safety of all.
