France is aging!

With the pandemic, France had to face those who are usually discreet: the old, the first victims of the Covid.

And young people affected by the psychological and economic consequences of successive confinements.

The pandemic has also created a global baby flop.

In 2020, the birth rate fell while the aging of the population is confirmed in France, as in most Western countries.

How to respond to this demographic challenge?

What impact on the pension system?

On employment, productivity?

On migration?

On inequalities between generations?

All these questions were discussed at the Economic Meetings of Aix-en-Provence with our guests:

-

Hervé le Bras,

demographer

-

Hippolyte d'Albis,

the Cercle economist, specializing in demographic issues

-

Philippe Aghion,

also member of the Cercle, professor at the Collège de France

-

Hakim el Karaoui,

essayist, consultant, and often scratching on the sensitive issues of migration.
