Coronavirus outbreaks in the social sphere triple: 222 and 3,200 infections

The number of

coronavirus

infections

associated with

outbreaks

in the social sphere has tripled between June 21 and 27, compared to the previous week, exceeding

3,200 cases in the 222 outbreaks detected

, mostly related to leisure trips. gatherings of friends and social interactions in indoor and local spaces.

This was stated this Friday by the Ministry of Health which, in its report on the evolution of

Covid-19

, details that it has received 58,018 notifications of outbreaks with 429,419 associated cases since the start of the de-escalation (June 2020).

Between June 21 and 27 (considered epidemiological week 25 of 2021), communities have reported 603 outbreaks, with 5,495 infections.

According to Health, the number of outbreaks detected continues the downward trend of previous weeks, although it warns that there is a substantial increase in those related to the social sphere.

The coronavirus vaccine reduces the severity, duration and viral load in already immunized positives

People who contract the

coronavirus

even after vaccination tend to have a lower viral load, experience a shorter infection time and have milder symptoms than people who are not vaccinated, according to research that includes data from ongoing studies from the Arizona University of Health Sciences (United States).

"If you get vaccinated, in 90% of cases you will not get

Covid-19

. Even if you contract it, there will be less amount of virus in you and it is likely that your illness will be much milder," explains Jeff Burgess, Principal investigator of the study, which has been published in the

New England Journal of Medicine

.

Although vaccines are proving to be very effective in preventing infection with this virus, no vaccine is 100 percent effective and occasional infections do occur.

Among the 3,975 participants in two studies,

SARS-CoV-2

infections were identified

in five fully vaccinated and 11 partially vaccinated participants, as well as 156 unvaccinated participants.

About half of the participants came from study centers in Arizona.

The researchers found that study participants who were partially or fully vaccinated with the

Pfizer

and

Moderna

messenger RNA vaccines

at the time of infection had a viral load that was 40 percent lower than that of unvaccinated participants.
