Love stories usually end badly, even those with Bollywood as a backdrop.

Movie superstar Aamir Khan, one of Indian Hollywood's best-known actors, and his wife, director Kiran Rao, announced their separation on Saturday after fifteen years of marriage.

The famous couple released a statement saying that their breakup was decided by mutual agreement, but that they would raise their son together and continue to work on joint projects.

"During these fifteen beautiful years spent together, we have shared a lifetime of experiences, joy and laughter," they said.

Now we would like to start a new chapter in our lives - no longer as husband and wife, but as co-parents and family for each other ”.
