Catalonia Enriquez, who changed gender and won the title of Miss Nevada last week, will officially become the first person to change his gender to compete for the Miss USA title.
Enriquez, of Filipino origin, 27, who designs and sews her own beauty pageant clothes, will represent Nevada next November in the Miss USA competition with representatives from other US states.
In the event of victory, Enriquez will represent the United States in the Miss Universe contest, but it will not be the first transgender participant, after she represented Spain in 2018, Angela Ponce.
