Relics from the early Joseon Dynasty were discovered on a large scale in the redevelopment area of ​​Insa-dong, Seoul.

There are about 1,600 pieces of metal type alone, including many real type types that can confirm the earliest form of Hangeul in the early days of the creation of Hunminjeongeum.

A large artifact was discovered last week.



There were 1,600 pieces of metal movable type in the jar buried in the ground.




There are a total of 582 letters of Hangul metal type alone.



The metal type of Dongguk Jeongunsik notation used in the 15th century to correct Chinese characters was first confirmed as real.



The letters written in the Korean translation of the Wongakgyeong, which contain the principles of Buddhist practice, were also found in printed form.



It is presumed to have been made at the same or slightly earlier time as the oldest existing Hangeul type.



For the first time, the real metal type of Chinese characters, called the flower of metal type, was excavated for the first time by nearly 20 years ahead of the Gutenberg Bible.

Other relics were also found.



'Ilseongjeongsi', a day and night astronomical clock that is a sundial during the day and a star clock at night, was discovered only after the blueprints were passed on.

Large-scale relics were discovered here, which used to be the center of the Hanyang City Wall, providing an opportunity to confirm the excellence of our science and technology in the early Joseon Dynasty.
