(Fighting New Coronary Pneumonia) 1 new confirmed case of male ground crew at airport in Hong Kong was changed to imported related case

China News Service, Hong Kong, June 29 (Reporter Han Xingtong) The Health Protection Center of the Department of Health of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announced on the 29th that one new confirmed case of new coronary pneumonia was an imported case from the United Kingdom.

The Center for Health Protection also announced that the two earlier local cases involving the L452R mutant virus strain, namely, the 27-year-old male ground worker at the airport and his female colleagues, have been corrected to cases related to imported cases.

One new confirmed case involves a 43-year-old man who arrived in Hong Kong from the UK and has no symptoms.

So far, the number of confirmed cases in Hong Kong has increased to 11,921.

Earlier, after 17 consecutive days of no locally confirmed cases in Hong Kong, there was a local case of unknown origin, involving a 27-year-old man who worked as a ground handler at the Hong Kong International Airport. He was carrying the L452R mutant virus strain.

The Public Health Laboratory Service Division of the Department of Health conducted a genetic sequencing analysis of the case, and the results showed that the case was consistent with the genome of the three imported cases earlier, reflecting that the four cases may be epidemiologically related.

On the same day, the Centre for Health Protection announced that according to the latest epidemiological investigation, the male ground handler had a brief encounter with the three imported cases at the temporary sample collection center of the Department of Health at the Hong Kong International Airport on June 11.

Therefore, based on the epidemiological data and the results of genetic sequencing, the Center for Health Protection decided to modify the classification of the male ground worker from a local case of unknown origin to an epidemiological association with the imported case.

Therefore, the confirmed female colleague with the male ground worker will also be revised to have an epidemiological association with the imported case.

As the two local cases were revised to be related to imported cases, there have been no new local cases in Hong Kong for 22 consecutive days.

The Hong Kong Hospital Authority announced that as of 9 am, a total of 2 confirmed patients have been discharged from the hospital in the past 24 hours. So far, a total of 11,628 confirmed or suspected patients have recovered and discharged.

A total of 48 confirmed patients are in hospital, of which one is in critical condition, one is in serious condition, and the remaining 46 are in stable condition.
