Kansai Electric Power's Mihama Nuclear Power Station Unit 3 in Fukui Prefecture, which restarted for the first time in Japan for more than 40 years after the nuclear accident, started power generation and transmission on the afternoon of the 29th.

It is expected to go into commercial operation in late July.

After the accident at TEPCO's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant 10 years ago, the operating period of domestic nuclear power plants is limited to 40 years in principle by law, but if it passes the national examination, it will be possible to extend the operation up to 60 years. I will.

Forty-four years after the start of operation, Kansai Electric Power Mihama Nuclear Power Plant Unit 3 passed this examination and with the consent of the local government, on June 23, after the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant for more than 40 years. For the first time, I started the reactor and restarted it.

Then, we gradually increased the output of the reactor and started power generation and transmission at 3:00 pm on the 29th.

From now on, it is expected that the reactor output will be set to 100% on July 3, the final stage adjustments will be made, and commercial operation will begin on July 27.

Takashi Morimoto, President of Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc., commented, "With a strong will and determination to continuously improve the safety of nuclear power generation, we will proceed with our work carefully with the highest priority on safety."
