The National Center for Child Health and Development, which treats many seriously ill children with the new coronavirus vaccine, has begun accepting reservations for priority vaccinations for children aged 12 and over who go to the hospital.

The National Center for Growth Medicine, located in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo, is a specialized hospital that provides advanced medical care such as pediatrics and obstetrics, and many children with serious illnesses such as childhood cancer and heart disease attend.

Since children with underlying illnesses are at high risk of becoming more severe when infected with the new coronavirus, the center gives priority to using Pfizer vaccines for patients aged 12 and over who are outpatients or hospitalized. We have started accepting reservations for inoculation.

A vaccination ticket issued by the local government is required to make a reservation, and it is judged that vaccination is possible by consulting directly with the attending physician at the time of regular consultation, and the reservation can be made if the consent of the guardian is obtained. It means that it is not accepted.

According to the center, the vaccination will start on the 7th of next month, and after next month, the vaccination will be started for pregnant women who go to the hospital.

Hitoshi Kato, director of the National Center for Child Health and Development, said, "There are many children with rare illnesses among the patients at the center, so it is desirable to have the doctor who usually treats the patient from inoculation to follow-up. I want to proceed with the inoculation while doing so. "
