Regarding the Shimane Nuclear Power Station Unit 2 in Shimane Prefecture, where Chugoku Electric Power is aiming to restart, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is expected to present a draft examination document on the 23rd, which means a de facto pass.

If you pass the examination, it will be the 5th nuclear power plant of the same type as the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant that caused the accident.

Eight years ago, Chugoku Electric Power Co., Inc. applied to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for a review of Shimane Nuclear Power Station Unit 2, which is a prerequisite for restarting operations.

After that, the assumptions of earthquakes and tsunamis, countermeasures against serious accidents, etc. were discussed, and after the main deliberation was completed in April, the Regulatory Commission continued to confirm the contents of the examination.

And on the 21st, it was revealed that the draft examination document for Shimane Nuclear Power Station Unit 2 will be shown at the regular meeting on the 23rd.

The draft examination document means a de facto pass, and after the regular meeting on the 23rd, the final pass of the examination will be notified to the electric power company through public comments from the public.

Shimane Nuclear Power Station Unit 2 is the same type of nuclear power plant as the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant of TEPCO that caused the accident, and if it passes, it will be the fifth boiling water reactor.

However, the actual restart requires the consent of the local government, and no concrete outlook is available at this time.
