Disclosure of a church more than 1,600 years old due to the closure of Corona

The closure imposed by the Corona virus around the world contributed to the unveiling of the Saint Neophytos Church dating back to the Byzantine era in Turkey, during the cleansing of water bodies of pollution.

The ruins of the church, which is more than 1,600 years old, appeared clearly in Iznik Lake in northwestern Turkey, according to the "Sky News" website.

The American Archaeological Institute ranked St. Neophytos Church as one of the ten best discoveries this year.

Researchers believe that the church was built in the fourth century, and it was destroyed and flooded after an earthquake in the area around the year 740.
