  On June 30, 2020, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress passed the Hong Kong National Security Law.

  On July 3, 2020, in accordance with the provisions of the Hong Kong National Security Law, the National Security Committee of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region was formally established, chaired by the Chief Executive Carrie Lam.
