In a cherry field in Higashine City, Yamagata Prefecture, about 100 kg of cherries worth 500,000 yen were found to have been torn off, and police have begun an investigation on the assumption that it was a theft case and are calling attention to farmers.

Around 4:20 am on the 19th, a man who owns a cherry field in Nogawa, Higashine City, found that the cherries just before harvest were being torn off.

According to the police, the high-class variety "Sato Nishiki" was damaged by about 100 kg, and the damage amount was equivalent to 500,000 yen.

According to the victim, there were no abnormalities when he checked the fields around 3 pm on the 18th.

The man said, "I wasn't worried because it's a place with a lot of cars, but I'm shocked because I got only mature fruits."

Police are investigating the situation in detail, assuming that someone entered the field from the evening of the 18th to the morning of the 19th and stole the cherries.

In Yamagata prefecture, cherries have been stolen one after another in Tendo and Tsuruoka this season, and police are calling attention.
