The meeting between Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden went without sensations.

Actually, this is exactly what was to be expected.

“We managed quickly,” as noted by Margarita Simonyan.

What and, most importantly, why should the heads of state sit and talk for a long time, if the relations between our countries, by general consensus, are at absolute zero today, if not lower? Long conversations and complex negotiations lasting for hours are possible only when at stake are really those issues that need to be resolved not ever in the distant future, but right here and now. This requires reconciliation of positions, finding arguments and, of course, compromises on both sides. As was the case, for example, during a long meeting of the leaders of the Normandy Four in Minsk while searching for a solution on Ukraine and Donbass. Then the negotiations between the leaders of Russia, France, Germany and Ukraine lasted about 16 hours. We remember very well the success of our President Putin and the confused Poroshenko, who constantly consulted with someone. More precisely,we perfectly understand with whom - with those who brought the US relations with us to the current frosty point.

When most of the issues on the agenda are reduced only to the desire of one side to dictate its conditions to the other, clear results, of course, cannot be expected.

Exactly what is happening now in relations between Russia and the United States.

Given the nuclear status of both powers, it is naive to believe that, in principle, some kind of imposition of principles and decisions is possible.

But America really wants to, and so far American politicians cannot do anything about it.

I would like to designate a certain wobbly and ghostly figure of the construct, which, by design or spontaneously, was demonstrated to the world by Joe Biden.

What can we state?

Putin's predictions that Biden, an experienced politician, would behave politely and not throw accusations and insults at Russia and our leader, came true.

Moreover, this time we saw not only "decent" behavior of the American president, but also quite adequate rhetoric at Biden's press conference following the summit. One gets the feeling that the journalists of the American pool were inclined, apparently out of the prevailing inertia, extremely belligerent and expected the same harsh statements from their president, but remained disappointed when Biden, in response to the question that Putin “never pleaded guilty,” replied , waving his hand: "You did not understand what happened, you did not listen to me." An interesting conclusion, but it speaks more about the American media, and not about Biden.

However, the very fact of negotiations is already a plus.

Trump was not given this either - after a couple of meetings with Vladimir Putin, the establishment blocked all attempts by the American president to, if not get along, then at least establish a dialogue with Russia.

Although we should not forget that whatever the external rhetoric of the Americans, their general line in relations between our countries has not changed for decades, so, of course, one should not delude oneself here.

An interesting fact about the coverage of the summit.

The press conference of our president was attended by American journalists from ABC, CNN, BBC, NBC.

They had the opportunity to ask questions of the Russian president and even argue with him.

However, not a single Russian media outlet was reportedly allowed to attend Biden's press conference.

And this is a very vivid illustration of "true American democracy" and "freedom of speech" in the American way.

The present time is so interesting because much that was previously hidden appears, the secret becomes apparent.

And then it suddenly turns out that "Putin's dictatorship" is in fact the most open story, and the vaunted "American democracy" is in fact police methods and continuous restrictions.

Putin answered questions for 55 minutes, answered more than 20 questions.

He answered, as they say, without a piece of paper, on his own behalf.

Biden, on the other hand, answered only seven questions, and at first he spoke at all, reading the text according to the prompter.

This, perhaps, is one of the interesting results: a lot becomes clear in terms of the scale of the indicated figures.

The American version is unlikely to continue to be attractive and win people's sympathy.

People like strong, open, charismatic, independent leaders who are able to personally make serious decisions, speak for themselves.

Vladimir Putin has - again and again - demonstrated to the world his openness and readiness for dialogue.

Well, Russia is always ready to talk with the most implacable enemy, because peace is what we are fighting for and what we carry throughout our history.

Whatever some of our "partners" may think about this.
