After fatal shots with two victims in Espelkamp in North Rhine-Westphalia, the alleged perpetrator was caught.

The arrest took place in Diepenau, Lower Saxony, as the police announced on Thursday.

The arrest of the 52-year-old man went without complications.

According to the investigators, the alleged perpetrator comes from Diepenau, which is around 13 kilometers from Espelkamp.

The police had gathered numerous forces in Diepenau in the afternoon.

As a reporter from the German Press Agency reported on site, special police forces were also on duty.

The victims of the attack in Espelkamp are a 48-year-old man and a woman, about whom no further details were initially given.

According to the report, the police had been informed of shots at 11:16 a.m.

The dead 48-year-old and the seriously injured woman who died despite resuscitation measures on site were found.
