On June 17, 2021 local time, in Kocaeli Province, Turkey, divers cleaned the sea snot underwater at the eastern end of the Marmara Sea.

During the cleaning process, an old sunken ship was found to be covered with sticky material.

The Turkish government is carrying out a cleanup operation for the "sea nose" in the Marmara Sea.

Turkey’s Minister of Environment and Urban Planning, Kurum, said last week that the cleanup operation was carried out in 7 provinces along the Marmara Sea, which is Turkey’s largest ocean cleanup operation.

Turkish officials stated that they hope to turn the Marmara Sea into a clean ocean within five years.
