Under the slogan "Humanity Prospers with Women Prospering", "Expo 2020 Dubai" is organizing a special pavilion for women, and it is the first time that a pavilion has been dedicated to women, to celebrate change-makers around the world since the 20th century.

During a press meeting held yesterday at the SLS Dubai Hotel, Expo 2020 revealed the creative content of the pavilion, which is organized in cooperation with Cartier, as it comes within the framework of emphasizing gender equality, empowering women, and highlighting their successes.

The women's pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai is a reflection of the UAE's model of women's empowerment and gender equality, and its recognition of the importance of the roles that women play in society. Gender equality and women's empowerment, as it will serve to deliver a message to the world that the full and equal participation of women in all fields is necessary to build a more equitable and just world.

Basic principles

Minister of State for International Cooperation, Reem Al-Hashemi, said in a recorded interview: "The international community has made remarkable progress in terms of gender equality and women's empowerment, but much remains to be done, and (Expo 2020) will attract the necessary attention to this issue." Vice President of International Participations, Hind Al Owais, spoke about the pavilion, saying: “Working on the pavilion took a number of years, and the pavilion can be described as a remarkable achievement, because it sheds light on women in different parts of the world, and how they still face challenges in various fields to this day. This is far from what women have done throughout history.”

Al Owais considered that the pavilion is the space that promotes the concept of equality and women's empowerment, noting that there will be more than 400 participants over six months in the pavilion, to highlight this issue.

The President and CEO of Cartier International, Cyril Vigneron, also participated in the meeting, who considered that empowering women has a double effect, as it contributes to advancing economic growth and development, and benefits societies and humanity in general, explaining that in light of the continued absence of gender inequality and its continuing impact on the lives of Women, it is imperative, to demonstrate unity and synergy in promoting women's empowerment. Sophie Douero, General Manager of Cartier Middle East and India, spoke, stressing the importance of this pavilion, especially as it works to collect ideas from around the world, expressing their support for change makers, through cooperation with "Expo 2020 Dubai", and presenting the women's pavilion to a global audience in the true sense of the word. . She noted their commitment to share our vision for a future that allows all women to reach their full potential, and for a more inclusive society for generations to come.

The women's pavilion is supported by the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of UN Women Phumzile Mlambo Ngcuka, who is one of the most prominent advocates of women's rights, empowerment and gender equality and activists in this field. People from around the world share the pivotal roles that women play, both in their local communities and on the global stage, along with the challenges they still face every day.

The pavilion presents an exhibition entitled "New Horizons", which will provide visitors with the opportunity to learn about the pivotal role played by women, famous and not, from the dawn of history to the present.

The pavilion will feature prominent names in art, engineering and architecture, as the French interior designer, Laura Gonzalez, will design the pavilion, while the artist El Sayed will present Arabic calligraphy on the building, and the director Nadine Labaki will direct the introductory film about him, while the French actress and director Milan Laurent will supervise, The exhibition is held on the second floor of the building.

In an effort to break stereotypes and correct misconceptions about the role of women, the Women’s Pavilion will raise people’s awareness of their role, highlighting female and male contributors to women’s empowerment and gender equality, and inspiring visitors of all ages, to be change-makers within their communities and beyond.

It includes five platforms, each focusing on a different story, starting with the introduction, and its goal is to explain the goal of the pavilion, then the achievements that review the achievements of the impact of women in the world, then the challenges section to acknowledge what hinders women's progress, and fourthly, solutions to highlight the initiatives that enable women to prosper in order to Humanity thrives, and finally interacts with visitors to encourage them to champion gender equality.
