China News Service, Macau, June 17 (Reporter Long Tuyou) The Economic and Technological Development Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government announced on the 17th that it has passed the "Mainland and Macao Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement" (CEPA) consultation mechanism. After discussion, it is determined that the CEPA origin standards for the four food products will be optimized and revised, which will be implemented on July 1 this year.

  According to the Economic and Technological Development Bureau, since 2019, through the CEPA consultation mechanism, a total of 18 revised origin standards have been successfully implemented, covering meat products, nut foods, foods containing cocoa, and other edible animal products (such as bird’s nest, royal jelly, etc.), Chinese medicinal materials, condiments and medical supplies will further cooperate with the transformation of production technology and production scale adjustments of the Macau industry, and encourage enterprises to seize the development opportunities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to enter the mainland market.

  According to the negotiation mechanism for the revised origin standards, Macao enterprises can submit applications to the Economic and Technological Development Bureau before March 1 and September 1 each year, so that Macao and the Mainland can negotiate relevant applications.

The revised origin standards agreed by both parties will be implemented no later than July 1 of the year and January 1 of the following year.

  CEPA trade in goods took effect from January 1, 2004 to May this year. The Economic and Technological Development Bureau issued a total of 6,872 CEPA certificates of origin. The total export value of goods exported to the mainland under zero-tariff concessions reached 1.16 billion yuan ( Macau Patacas, the same below), tax exemption is 77.8 million yuan.

From January to May this year, the total value of CEPA exports to the mainland was 35.4 million yuan, an increase of 14.3% year-on-year.
