In celebration of World Sea Turtle Day, which falls on June 16 each year, the Dubai Turtle Rehabilitation Project, affiliated to the "Jumeirah Group", released 30 sea turtles to their natural habitat today, after a period of full recovery during which they were subjected to periodic examinations, continuous monitoring and care. medical. The hawksbill, green turtles, and loggerhead sea turtles were released from the "Jumeirah Al Naseem" hotel in Dubai, in the presence of a number of media representatives and a group of hotel guests, under the supervision of project experts.

The release of sea turtles confirms their importance and vital role in the balance of marine habitats. In light of the threats facing them around the world, and due to the loss of habitats, poaching activities, over-exploitation and pollution, the "Jumeirah Group" is making unremitting efforts to support these wonderful creatures and curb the decline in their numbers. The group has succeeded in providing the necessary care for sick or injured sea turtles since the establishment of the project in 2004 in the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, in cooperation with the Dubai Wildlife Protection Office; the Dubai Falcon Hospital; and the Central Laboratory for Veterinary Research. To date, the group has returned about 2,000 sea turtles in complete safety to the waters of the Arabian Gulf, where the average annual rescued turtle exceeds 100.Hawksbill turtles and green turtles are among the most prominent turtle species that the project is keen to take care of, while the Dubai Turtle Rehabilitation Project also provides care for loggerhead turtles and sometimes olive ridley turtles. Since its opening in 2018, the resort has rescued 250 baby hawksbill turtles, and helped more than 700 baby turtles reach the sea safely.

This year, each turtle received extensive care as part of a comprehensive program of veterinary examinations, medical management and surgical care as needed, along with ongoing monitoring.
