Joyce Jonathan was Tuesday guest of Philippe Vandel in the program "Culture Médias" for the release of his new title, "Les p'tites jolies things".

A song heralding a new album which will of course be released in France, but also in China.

The singer explains her often unrecognized link with this country.

INTERVIEW

She is one of the French artists who export the best, even if we often ignore it.

Joyce Jonathan is very popular in China, where she has been invited to perform in front of 150 million viewers for the New Year. She has also made it to the top 5 sales in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

The singer explains Tuesday at Philippe Vandel's microphone how her link with this country was born, on the occasion of her invitation to the

Culture Médias program

for the release of her new song

Joyce Jonathan's connection to China dates back to childhood, as both of her parents speak Mandarin and her mother is the founder and director of a specialist travel agency.

"It played a lot, of course," admits the singer.

“My parents worked in China all their life. My mom worked in tourism and my dad is an architect and did a lot of projects in this country.”

"I went to all Chinese provinces"

It is therefore quite logical that after his first successes in France, Joyce Jonathan decides to have his songs translated into Mandarin.

"I understand what is being said, because it is quite literal as a translation, even if of course they are adaptations", she specifies.

"And I also have a little knowledge of Mandarin because I studied it at school."

"And finally, I was able to release all my records over there with my French record company," rejoices Joyce Jonathan, who has thus had unmistakable success in China.

It must be said that the singer maintains her relationship with her distant audience.

"It's been a little over ten years that I go there every year. Since 2009 exactly," she says.
