The head of the archaeological committee formed to inspect and inventory the holdings of the Zamalek apartment, Ali Dahi, revealed the existence of new surprises that were found inside the apartment known as “Ali Baba’s Cave”, including a unique and very rare coin, which is the dirham of the Umayyad Caliph “Abdul Malik bin Marwan, which is the first coin minted, It bears the testimony “There is no god but God,” and it is unknown how it reached the owner of the apartment. “For us archaeologists, this coin is priceless,” he said.

Dahi told the Egyptian newspaper, Al-Watan: "This case is one of the largest cases in which we seized Egyptian antiquities from one owner who does not have possession titles, and it is greater than the case of major antiquities, in which 21,000 pieces were smuggled to Italy."

And he continued: "Among the holdings are 200 pharaonic pieces from different eras, pointing to the discovery of free neck bonds, which were used for the passage of slaves and served as an identity document."

Regarding the period of Muhammad Ali’s rule, Dahi said: “We found a bracelet for Princess Fawzia, which appeared in some pictures and some of the gifts of the imperial wedding of Princess Fawzia and the joy of King Farouk on Queen Farida,” stressing that these collectibles are pieces that are not registered in the archaeological records, so once confiscated, they were recorded.
