Novavax, an American biotech company, said Monday that its anti-Covid vaccine was more than 90% effective, including against variants, after a study carried out on nearly 30,000 people in the United States and Mexico.

The vaccine "has shown 100% protection against moderate and severe forms of the disease and 90.4% overall," the US biotech company said in a statement.

It uses a technology different from those used for vaccines already widely authorized in the world: it is a so-called “subunit” vaccine, based on proteins that trigger an immune response, without viruses.
