Nara City began preparing for mass inoculation of people in specific occupations on the night of the 13th.

At the venue, Roth Arena Nara, the city's central gymnasium, vendors used partitions and desks to create inoculation booths and lined up chairs for follow-up.

The target audience is employees of long-term care workers, nursery schools, kindergartens, etc. who often come into contact with the elderly and children, as well as employees of hotels and inns among those involved in the tourism industry, which is the city's main industry. Besides, there are bus and taxi drivers.

Nara City plans to inoculate a total of more than 6,000 people using a vaccine made by Moderna for four days from the afternoon of the 14th, and hopes to enhance the infection control effect in parallel with the elderly.

Nara City says that it is the first time in Kansai that the local government will take the initiative in inoculating a specific occupation with the new corona vaccine.

Yuri Kobashi, Deputy Director of the Nara City Health and Medical Department, who is in charge of vaccination, said, "This is the first time I have given such a large-scale vaccination, but I want to prepare firmly so that it can be carried out smoothly and safely."
