Agriculture and animal husbandry are two related activities.
Indeed, it is necessary to feed the animals in order to be able to feed the men.
And feeding the animals depends a lot on the location and the climate.
Today we are going to visit a fodder farm, in the village of Gouloum, in the Linguère department in Senegal.

The Cilss countries, located on the southern fringe of the Sahara, include the Sahel to the north and the Savannah to the south.
This situation explains the persistence of transhumant livestock farming.
One of the solutions to reduce the problems is forage cultivation.
In Gouloum, it is an experiment.
We want to show the breeders of the area that it is possible to cultivate fodder in this difficult environment.

The choice of Gouloum for the establishment of this forage cultivation unit is not fortuitous.
We are on an asphalt road which leads to Louga.
The capital of the region, this city of 104,000 inhabitants is very hungry for milk.
In addition, Gouloum is 25 kilometers from Dahra, which is home to one of West Africa's largest cattle markets on Sundays.
