• Faced with the lack of commitments from beer brands that are partners of LGBTQ + events, Daniel Tristant, who had worked in the industry for more than twenty years, decided to launch his own drink in November 2019.

  • “R for diversity” is the beer of all genres, sexual orientations or beliefs.

The "R" stands for the first letter of the

    Rainbow flag

, a symbol of community and diversity.

  • Already distributed in several cities in France, the brand will soon be exported worldwide for “more diversity, representation and funds to then be donated to committed associations”.

A craft blond beer, with 5% alcohol, brewed in Peille, in the Alpes-Maritimes. Nothing more common. And yet, “R for diversity” is not a drink like any other. “I can say it proudly, says founder Daniel Tristant, it is the first beer in the world clearly committed to the LGBTQ + cause”. The story begins in 2018, the adopted Niçois has been working in events for twenty years and understands that the big brands of alcoholic drinks are surfing the “gay friendly” trend to sell their products without going after their convictions.

“Each time I asked the groups to go further in the process and make donations to associations, there was no one left.

So I decided to take the plunge when a former colleague opened his own brewery.

It was time to have a beer to represent us and that supports the cause.

Last year, we donated to the Refuge, which welcomes people who have been kicked out of their homes because of their sexual orientation.

This year, for Monaco, it will be Fight aids.

Each country donates to a national organization ”.

More than a drink, an object of commitment

Ultimately, the entrepreneur would like his beer to be “recognized worldwide for its diversity, which would help people who are discriminated against for who they are”. Even if the objective is first of all to develop well in France, Germany, the United States and Italy have already approached the entrepreneur to be able to sell the “R”. This name is not thought of at random. It represents the first letter of the

rainbow flag

, the

rainbow flag

, a symbol of the LGBTQ + community and of diversity.

In the flavors, in the values but also in the design, everything has been thought out down to the smallest detail to obtain "more than a simple drink, an object of commitment".

It was in November 2019 that Daniel Tristant, with his partner Xavier and the investment of Guillaume Paquin from the Brasserie des Ligures, marketed his first cans after four attempts to find the perfect beer.

“It was important to have a fruity, light taste, but above all something good, which everyone likes, so that everyone can find their way around”.

A beer for all genres

Representative but above all not exclusive, the "R" is the beer of all genres, sexual orientations or beliefs.

“Even if in the industry, we like everything that is beautiful and extravagant, I didn't want something too obvious for us to be able to choose this beer beyond the message conveyed.

This is why in form, it looks more like an energizing soda and in aesthetics, it is the components of beer, hops, malt and barley, in the colors of the rainbow flag.

But without being too obvious ”.

Even if the drink of Daniel Tristant is already well established in Nice and receives "a real craze", the founder continues to make it discover.

For the music festival, he will tour the bars and restaurants that offer it with a drag-queen to present it.
