With a passionate heart, dance for the times and the people

Narrator: Huang Doudou, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Dancers Association

[The Fighter Says]

We are a lucky generation of young dancers who have caught up with the best of times.

In our art field, many predecessors have opened up a brilliant path of Chinese dance, leading us forward.

They show the spirit of the Chinese people's love for peace and the pursuit of building a beautiful homeland in the form of dance art on the stage of history.

I started dancing when I was 12 years old. I have worked as a dancer, a rehearsal teacher, and a choreographer on the road of dancing for more than 30 years. I have the honor to struggle and grow together with a group of like-minded people.

Dance is like my birthday diary. Many of my experiences are stored in a piece of dance.

Twenty years ago, when I was studying at the Shanghai Dance School, I won the opportunity to participate in the national "Peach and Plum Cup" dance competition with "Drunken Drums". Later, I was fortunate to be on the CCTV Spring Festival Gala in 1995.

In 1997, at the invitation of the Lausanne International Ballet Competition, I performed "The Soul of the Terracotta Warriors" on the world stage. Western audiences saw the heroic atmosphere of the East in the power and beauty of Chinese classical dance.

In the "Beijing 8 Minutes" theatrical performance at the closing ceremony of the 2004 Athens Olympics, as a member of the flag-receiving team of the Chinese Olympics, I performed "Chinese Kung Fu" with the team to show the world the spirit of contemporary Chinese people.

In 2005, during my advanced studies in New York, I participated in the creation and performance of the opera "Qin Shi Huang" at the Metropolitan Opera in New York as a choreographer.

In 2008, I was once again invited to participate in the choreography of the new version of the New York Metropolitan Opera "The Hoffman's Story". I incorporated Chinese dance elements into this French opera, and danced in a strong Chinese style.

In these creative journeys, I deeply feel that it is precisely because the motherland is strong that the world pays more attention to our culture and respects our art, and more and more art workers stand on the world stage to show Chinese culture. Opportunity.

Literature and art are the clarion call for the advancement of the times.

In 2014, General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the literary work symposium, calling on literary and artistic workers to live up to the call of the times and the expectations of the people, and to create better and more literary works.

The important speech of General Secretary Xi Jinping has strengthened our confidence to move forward.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, and a number of literary and artistic works reflecting the centuries of the party's history have continuously emerged.

On May 23, as a gift for the 100th anniversary of the founding of the party, the dance work "Remembering Zhang Side" created by the Shanghai Youth Federation of Literary and Art Circles premiered online.

To me, Martyr Zhang Side is not a strange character.

In 2011, I participated in the creation and performance of the dance poem "Memory of Yan'an", which interprets the years when the Party Central Committee led the Chinese revolution in Yan'an.

This year, in order to better present this story, the creative team has also learned the heroic deeds of Zhang Side together, hoping to fully demonstrate the theme in audio, visual, audiovisual language by trying to figure out the role.

This time "Remembering Zhang Side" is a cross-border collaboration between dance art and paper-cutting art. Digital means merge the two arts. My role as Zhang Side dances in the paper-cutting room. The red character "jumps on paper" is loved by many young people. Also let more people know the story of Zhang Side.

The literary and art workers of the new era must not only get on the first-class stage, but also take root on the most basic stage.

As far as dance art is concerned, only by going deep into the masses can it have inexhaustible vitality and exert more value.

Since the important speech of General Secretary Xi Jinping's symposium on literature and art work, literary and artistic volunteer activities have flourished, and dancers have delivered many wonderful works to thousands of households.

We accompanied the team to the southern and northern regions of the motherland, successively to the Hainan Red Detachment Army Base, Chengdu Fighter R&D Base, earthquake-stricken areas and temporary settlements after the disaster, armed police anti-terrorist special forces, front-line medical care work areas, Xichang satellite launch base, Beijing Fangshan Revolutionary Old Zone , Jinggangshan Revolutionary Old District and other places to show condolences.

Although the conditions of some performances are difficult, they are connected with the people. Hand in hand, heart-to-heart touched by flowers and applause cannot be replaced.

As a dancer, I am grateful for the artistic characteristics that traditional Chinese dance has given to dancers in the new era, which enables us to always have strong cultural confidence in our artistic creation.

In recent years, more and more people like to dance and join the Chinese dance team.

This is inseparable from the strong cultural atmosphere of the society-the culture of the Chinese nation flows in our blood. Our young people really love their culture and can appreciate and show the charm of Chinese culture in Chinese dance.

I believe that there will be more outstanding dance works that will dance with a strong Chinese style in the new era.
