In response to a series of problems related to counter-terrorism at the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Station in Niigata Prefecture, a third-party verification committee consisting of three members, including a lawyer and a nuclear security expert set up by TEPCO, has set up a verification committee. The first meeting was held in Tokyo on the 10th.

At the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant in Niigata Prefecture, problems related to counter-terrorism, such as unauthorized entry of employees into the central control room and inadequate equipment for detecting the intrusion of terrorists, have become clear one after another. In addition to taking administrative measures against TEPCO, we instructed TEPCO to analyze the cause of the problem, summarize recurrence prevention measures, and report it after adding a third-party evaluation.

In response to this, TEPCO has joined Toshihiko Itami, a former prosecutor of the Osaka District Public Prosecutor's Office and a lawyer who is familiar with corporate governance, as well as experts in nuclear security and safety culture, and a third-party verification committee consisting of two members. The meeting was set up and the first meeting was held on the 10th.

The meeting was held privately, and after the meeting, Mr. Itami, who chairs the meeting, commented, "I would like to rigorously examine and make recommendations from the perspective of a third party and fulfill the mission of the committee."

The deadline for reporting TEPCO to the Regulatory Commission is September 23, and the Verification Committee will provide opinions and suggestions on the cause analysis and recurrence prevention measures compiled by TEPCO by then.
